Juvenile cases fall into two categories: 1. delinquency cases (criminal), and 2.abuse and neglect cases.  These cases are heard before a referee or a judge in the juvenile court. The Department of Human Services (DHS) is involved in the abuse and neglect cases.   These cases are very challenging as they deal with minors allegedly mistreated or are committing crimes at a young age.  The utmost care, concern, and knowledge is needed to succeed in this area of the law.
